Hyderabad: In a fresh setback to the Maoist outfit, 12 members surrendered before police and CRPF personnel in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Thursday.
The surrender took place at the Hemachandrapuram police headquarters in the presence of District SP Rohit Raj and CRPF officials. All 12 are said to be from neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
According to SP Rohit, the group includes two Division Committee Members (DCMs) and four belonging to the ACM cadre. Of the 12 who gave up arms, nine are men and three are women.
SP Rohit stated that since January 2025, a total of 294 Maoist cadres across different ranks have surrendered in the region. He attributed the latest surrender to the ongoing ‘Operation Cheyutha’ initiative by the Telangana government.
Each of the surrendered Maoists was provided ₹25,000 in immediate relief as part of the rehabilitation support extended by the authorities.
