Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has sanctioned ₹1,290 crore for temple development across Telangana, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced at the Lal Darwaza Bonalu festival on Sunday.
Of this, ₹20 crore has been earmarked for Bonalu celebrations in Greater Hyderabad, he said, addressing devotees at the Simhavahini Mahankali temple.
Calling Bonalu “the identity of Telangana’s culture,” Bhatti praised the peaceful conduct of the festivities across the city and said the government was managing the events in a coordinated manner.
Silk garments were officially offered to the Goddess on behalf of the State Government. Bhatti said prayers were offered seeking prosperity for the people and development of the State.
He credited government officials and staff for their efforts in ensuring smooth conduct and recalled Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s earlier commitment to improving temple infrastructure. He said further development of the Lal Darwaza temple premises was being planned.
