Hyderabad: The 22nd Convocation of NALSAR University of Law was held at the university’s Justice City campus in Shamirpet on Saturday, with Chief Justice of India Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai delivering the convocation address.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Supreme Court Judge P.S. Narasimha were guests of honour. Justice Sujoy Paul, Acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court and Chancellor of NALSAR, presided over the ceremony, attended by judges of the Supreme Court, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Courts.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao presented the annual report and announced a partnership with the Ministry of Social Justice to modernise Special Courts under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He also unveiled India’s first criminal justice clinic Square Circle Clinic transitioned from Project 39A (NLU Delhi) to NALSAR.
A total of 462 degrees and diplomas—including Ph.D., LL.M., MBA, and B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) were conferred, with 232 in person and 230 in absentia. Fifty-eight gold medals were awarded, most of them in B.A. LL.B. Honours. Ishika Garg received eight gold medals, K.S. Shailendra seven, and Architha six. In LL.M., Muskan Karla won two medals. In MBA, Muskan Alvi earned one.
CJI Gavai reminded graduates of law’s transformative power, citing global examples of legal activism against injustice and discrimination. CM Revanth Reddy praised the university’s academic stature and its growing global presence. New academic publications were also released during the event.
