Hyderabad: The Static Surveillance Team (SST) seized ₹25 lakh in cash on Monday during inspections for the Jubilee Hills by-election. Officials said the money was moved in violation of election rules and without valid documents.

The SST team stopped a car near Saradhi Studios at Maitrivanam Crossroads and found the cash inside. The vehicle, registered as TS09FF 6111, belonged to Jairam Thalasia of Seethammadhara in Visakhapatnam district. He was driving toward Yousufguda when officers intercepted him during routine checks for the Jubilee Hills by-election.
Police took custody of the money and submitted it to the Madhuranagar Police Station under the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. They also began tracing the source and purpose of the cash through an immediate investigation.
Officials said surveillance teams have stepped up checks across the constituency to stop the flow of unaccounted money and ensure fair conduct of the election next month.
