Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar asserted on Monday that providing 42% reservation to backward classes (BCs) in the state is entirely feasible, challenging the BJP’s position on the matter.
Responding to BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao’s remarks that such quotas cannot be included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, Prabhakar accused him of once again “revealing his true colours.”
He cited Tamil Nadu as an example where increased reservation levels have already been implemented, dismissing BJP’s claim as baseless.
The minister demanded that all BJP MPs from Telangana resign if they cannot ensure the implementation of enhanced BC quotas. “Let it be made clear why this reservation has not been enforced,” he said.
He urged the central government to immediately act on the demand to raise BC reservations and warned that any injustice toward backward communities would not be tolerated.
