Hyderabad: Police seized 935 kg of ganja being smuggled in fruit crates near Batasingaram in Ranga Reddy district and arrested three suspects involved in the inter-state trafficking operation.
Acting on a tip-off, Khammam Eagle police along with Rachakonda personnel intercepted a DCM truck near Batasingaram fruit market. Inside, they found 455 ganja packets concealed in 35 fruit boxes. The total estimated value of the contraband is ₹5 crore.
Police said the consignment originated from Odisha and was en route to Maharashtra. The DCM was being escorted by an Innova, which was also seized. Both vehicles are now in police custody.
One of the main accused, Pawar Kumar from Maharashtra, was taken into custody. Investigators said the operation was coordinated through an individual named Vicky Seth, who arranged the transport from Odisha.
Three persons have been arrested so far. Two others involved in the racket remain at large, police added.
