Congress backs Operation Sindoor, affirms support for armed forces and anti-terror action

New Delhi: The Congress Party convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the Indian military’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Senior leaders, including AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and KC Venugopal, were among those present.

Following the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge addressed the media and issued a strong statement supporting the Indian armed forces. He said the operation had sent a decisive message to Pakistan and the terror camps operating from PoK.

Kharge said the party takes pride in the courage and commitment displayed by the armed forces. He saluted their bravery, discipline, and patriotism, adding that their response to terrorism through Operation Sindoor reflected India’s resolve.

He also noted that since the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian National Congress has extended unequivocal support to the government in its fight against cross-border terrorism. He reaffirmed that the party would continue to back every firm measure taken to counter such threats.

Reiterating India’s clear national policy against terrorism originating from Pakistan and PoK, Kharge called for national unity in defending sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasised that the Congress stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and supports every step taken in the national interest.

He recalled the long-standing readiness of Indian soldiers to lay down their lives for the country, stating that history has time and again shown their unwavering dedication to national unity and security.
