Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team probing the phone tapping case is preparing to file a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking cancellation of the relief granted to former Intelligence official T. Prabhakar Rao.
SIT officials have decided to move the apex court citing lack of cooperation from Rao during the investigation. They allege that despite repeated summons, he has not presented himself for questioning.
The relief granted earlier is likely to be challenged on grounds of non-compliance and obstruction to the investigation process. The SIT contends that Rao’s failure to cooperate is hampering progress in the case.
In parallel, the investigation team is considering a fresh petition in the Nampally court to secure custodial interrogation of Rao. The move is aimed at pressing for direct access to the former officer for questioning under judicial oversight.
