DK Aruna slams Congress, BRS over urea shortage, Banakacharla project politics

Hyderabad: BJP MP from Mahbubnagar, DK Aruna, on Monday accused the Congress and BRS of levelling baseless allegations against the BJP to cover up their own failures. Speaking to the media, Aruna said the Telangana government was deliberately creating an artificial shortage of urea and misleading the public.

She said the state needs 9.5 lakh tonnes of urea, while the Centre had already dispatched 12.02 lakh tonnes. “Even with an additional 3 lakh tonnes in stock, the government is crying shortage. What’s really going on? Are they giving it to farmers or diverting it to the black market?” she asked.

Aruna criticised the state government for failing to send proper proposals to the Centre in time, calling it a clear case of administrative negligence. “Instead of doing their job, they are trying to pass the blame onto the Union government,” she said.

On the Godavari–Banakacharla link project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government, Aruna alleged that both the BRS and Congress were playing diversionary politics. While BRS was now trying to distance itself from earlier mistakes, the Congress was seeking to claim credit for halting the project, she said.

Aruna reminded that BJP MPs had taken a clear stand against the project during the all-party meeting called by the state government. Targeting BRS leader Harish Rao, she asked why the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project went ahead during the decade-long BRS rule if the party truly opposed water diversion. “You were in power for ten years—why didn’t you stop it then?” she demanded.

She asserted that both the BJP and the Union government are working sincerely for Telangana’s development and won’t allow political opportunism to derail critical issues.
