Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested retired Engineer-in-Chief C. Muralidhar Rao and uncovered substantial assets in raids conducted at 12 locations linked to him and his relatives in a disproportionate assets case.
The searches revealed multiple properties, including a villa in Kondapur and flats in Banjara Hills, Yusufguda, Begumpet, and Kokapet. Some of the commercial properties turned up in Karimnagar and Hyderabad. Investigators also found an apartment in Kodad, a solar project in Zaheerabad, and a partially built apartment complex in Warangal.
They didn’t stop there—11 acres of farmland, four residential plots in Hyderabad, and a 6,500-square-yard stretch in Mokila were also seized.
Assets further included four vehicles—one being a Mercedes-Benz—large quantities of gold jewellery, and significant bank deposits. Officials suspect these were amassed through abuse of official position.
Preliminary findings indicate the assets far exceed known sources of income. ACB has taken Muralidhar Rao into custody and further investigation is underway.
