Hyderabad: Former Achampet MLA Guvvala Balaraju formally joined the BJP on Sunday, ending days of speculation over his political move. Telangana BJP chief G. Ramachander Rao welcomed him into the party by draping the saffron scarf at the state headquarters in Nampally. Leaders from the Achampet constituency also joined the party along with him.
Balaraju, once considered close to BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, resigned from the party recently. In his resignation letter to KCR, he alleged that the leadership had ignored him after an attack on him and that he was not receiving due recognition within the party.

Guvvala Balaraju BJP entry follows week-long speculation
His exit from BRS had triggered political suspense in Telangana, with rumours pointing towards a BJP entry. Though he initially claimed no final decision had been made, he eventually joined the saffron party as expected. Balaraju’s switch is being seen as another high-profile defection from BRS to BJP in the state’s political landscape.
