Komatireddy inaugurates new police quarters in Nalgonda under ₹232 crore upgrade plan

Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday inaugurated newly built police residential quarters at the district police headquarters in Nalgonda. The new facilities are part of a ₹232 crore state-wide plan to upgrade housing for police personnel.

The quarters include accommodation for AR DSPs, Circle Inspectors, and Sub-Inspectors, along with a shishu vihar (child care centre). The initiative aims to replace dilapidated police residences across Telangana with modern, secure housing.

Police quarters in Nalgonda part of broader Telangana housing push

Speaking at the event, Komatireddy said the Congress-led government began replacing unsafe housing soon after taking office. “We started demolition of outdated police quarters and are now building quality accommodation,” he said. He instructed Police Housing Corporation MD Ramesh Reddy to survey other districts and identify similar requirements.

Additionally, the Minister announced that the 50-year-old DSP office in Nalgonda would soon be demolished and rebuilt. Proposals are already underway to construct new AR constable quarters, pending the Chief Minister’s approval.

Telangana government prioritises police welfare and infrastructure

Komatireddy praised the Telangana police for their dedication to public safety. He assured continued government support for their welfare and infrastructure needs. He also commended the Nalgonda SP and District Collector for their anti-drug efforts, which align with the state’s goal of becoming drug-free.

Several officials joined the inauguration, including District SP Sharath Chandra Pawar, Collector Ila Tripathi, IG Iqbal, MLC Nellikanti Satyam, Additional Collectors Narayan Amit and J. Srinivas, and Devarakonda ACP Mounika.
