Telangana to be developed as eco-tourism hub, says Minister Konda Surekha

Hyderabad: Telangana will soon become a major eco-tourism hub, Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha said on Friday. The state government, she noted, is working with a clear vision to link nature conservation with tourism development while preserving tribal traditions, spiritual sites, and cultural heritage.

Chairing the Eco-Tourism Project Screening Committee at the Secretariat, she asked officials to fast-track implementation. She instructed them to begin Phase II works wherever Phase I is finished. She also urged TGFDC and TGTDC to formalise coordination by signing MoUs.

Niladri Hills to mirror Bhimbetka in eco-cultural value

Minister Surekha announced that Niladri Hills would be developed as a flagship eco-tourism site. She compared it to Bhimbetka Hills in Madhya Pradesh. The Tourism and Endowments departments will jointly mobilise funds to support the project.

The meeting reviewed several eco-tourism initiatives. These include projects at Ananthagiri Hills in Vikarabad, Kanakagiri in Khammam, Mucherla Eco Park in Nalgonda, Manjeera Sanctuary in Sangareddy, Pakhal Lake, Kinnerasani, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Vanasthali.

Officials present at the meeting included Principal Secretary Ahmad Nadeem, PCCF Dr. C. Suvarna, PCCF (Wildlife) Elusing Meru, TGFDC MD Sunita Bhagwat, and FDC Chairman Podem Veeraiah.
