Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will hold its ‘Chalo Bus Bhavan’ protest today in Hyderabad. The party is demanding that the government immediately withdraw the recent RTC fare hike. According to BRS leaders, the increase has placed an unfair burden on ordinary passengers across Telangana.
BRS Chalo Bus Bhavan protest against the RTC fare hike
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) will lead the protest along with senior leaders Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Padma Rao Goud, and Sabitha Indra Reddy.
The leaders will first assemble at Rathifile Bus Stand at 9 am. From there, they will travel by an RTC bus to Bus Bhavan, the headquarters of TSRTC. Once they arrive, they plan to submit a petition to the TSRTC Managing Director, demanding that the fare hike be rolled back immediately.
Meanwhile, KTR said the protest reflects the growing frustration among middle-class and daily-wage commuters. He also stated that the BRS would continue peaceful agitations until the government cancelled the decision. Moreover, he urged citizens to join the party’s efforts to protect public transport affordability.
Party terms fare hike a burden on commuters
BRS leaders said the fare increase adds pressure on working families already struggling with rising living costs. In addition, they appealed to the state government to maintain low ticket prices and safeguard commuter interests.
Furthermore, the party warned that it would expand the movement to districts if the authorities failed to respond. Consequently, leaders said the BRS would maintain public pressure until the government rolls back the hike. Finally, they emphasised that the protest aims to stand up for the common man’s daily struggles.
