Hyderabad: CPI State Secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao criticised the BJP and BRS for failing to show concern after the Telangana High Court stayed the BC reservations. He said both parties celebrated the court’s order instead of supporting the Backward Classes.
Speaking at a press meet in Hyderabad, Rao asked whether the BJP and BRS hated the government or did not care for BCs. He said both parties had backed the BC Reservation Bill in the Assembly but were now retreating from their stand.
Rao said the CPI had supported the BC Bill and also became a party to the court case. He reminded that the Supreme Court had ruled that reservations should not cross 50 per cent. Tamil Nadu, he added, implemented higher quotas by placing them under the Ninth Schedule.
He criticised the Centre for not amending the Constitution despite having the power to do so. Rao blamed the BJP for the entire issue and alleged that the BRS was helping it.
