Telangana celebrates Children’s Day with joy and tributes to Nehru

Hyderabad: The Telangana government celebrated Children’s Day on Friday at the CESS auditorium in Begumpet. The event was organised by the Department of Women and Child Welfare and saw active participation from children and officials alike.

Minister Seethakka attended as the chief guest. She personally distributed biscuit packets and spent time with the children, turning the gathering into a joyful celebration.

Tributes paid to Nehru’s ideals

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Seethakka paid tribute to India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. She described his sacrifices, patriotism, and moral leadership as timeless inspirations. She also recalled his ten years in prison and his choice to donate his entire wealth to the country.

Nehru’s birth anniversary, she said, reminds people to act with kindness and to contribute to society. She further added that the state government is running several key programmes focused on children’s welfare and protection.

Awards for top-performing students from child homes

The celebration featured cultural performances and games, which the minister and other dignitaries watched with interest. Minister Seethakka recognised students from Shishu Vihar and various orphanages who excelled in academics. She awarded them with certificates and cash prizes as a mark of encouragement.

Those present included Women’s Commission Chairperson Nerella Sharada, Child Rights Commission Chairperson Seetha Dayakar Reddy, and members of the Foods Corporation. Notable names included Kancherla Vandana Goud, Maripalli Chandana, Bandi Aparna, Gogula Saritha, Premalatha Agarwal, B. Vachan Kumar, M.A. Faheem, Secretary Anita Ramachandran, and Director Shruti Ojha.
