AIMIM makes strong debut in Bihar with 5 seats, outperforms Congress

Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asaduddin Owaisi, made a strong electoral debut in Bihar, winning five Assembly seats and outperforming the Congress in several Muslim-majority regions.

AIMIM contested 25 constituencies and posted notable performances in areas with high minority populations. The party clinched victories in Jokihat, Bahadurganj, Kochadhaman, Amour, and Baisi all with significant margins.

The party’s performance signals growing influence among minority voters, particularly in regions traditionally aligned with the Mahagathbandhan. Political observers believe the outcome could boost AIMIM’s presence in Bihar politics and open space for future consolidation.

The result also sparked political discussions, as AIMIM outshone the Congress, a traditional player in the alliance.

Waris Pathan blames opposition for vote split

Reacting to the results, AIMIM Bihar leader Waris Pathan called the outcome a major encouragement. He said the party was hopeful of winning seven seats and criticised RJD and Congress for denying them six seat requests during alliance talks.

“They called us the B-team, but now they’ve faced defeat and humiliation. They must take responsibility for the minority vote split,” Pathan said, referencing earlier accusations made against AIMIM in both Maharashtra and Bihar.
