North Zone Police sensitizes travel operator safety measures in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: North Zone Police reinforced travel operator safety norms during a coordination meeting held on 14 November. Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Rashmi Perumal met more than fifty travel agency owners and managers and directed them to follow statutory requirements without exception.

Officers explained safety rules and then asked agencies to follow strict verification steps. They required operators to check every passenger with valid identity proof. They also told them to maintain complete digital and physical logs. In addition, they sought accurate booking details, updated staff files, and clear vehicle deployment records for inspection.

Police instructed companies to install CCTV cameras inside offices and buses with the needed recording backup. They urged managers to review employee backgrounds and update internal records regularly. Because many complaints involve dark boarding points, officers demanded better lighting during night hours. They also highlighted the need for regular vehicle checks and firm adherence to fire safety standards.

Teams asked operators to report suspicious persons, strange queries, or unusual movements at once. They warned that unauthorised agents often cause online ticket fraud, so agencies must inform customers and block such attempts. Police also requested early intimation of special tours, high-risk travellers, and emergency travel plans to allow quicker coordination. They asked every operator to keep active communication channels with local stations for a timely response.

Officials closed the meeting with a clear warning that negligence affecting public safety would invite strong legal action. They stressed that travel operator safety depends on strict compliance and continuous coordination with policing teams.
