Hyderabad: Rachakonda police arrested two men and a juvenile in an inter state burglary case and recovered ₹37.05 lakh during a dawn vehicle check at Kothaguda X Road in Abdullapurmet. Officers linked the cash to the recent theft at Brilliant Engineering College. The joint team from Abdullapurmet Police Station and the CCS acted after spotting suspicious movement at 5 a.m. on 18 November.
Inter state burglary team targeted isolated colleges
The complainant, the principal of the institution, reported the crime on 10 October. He found the office lock broken when he reached the campus at 8:45 a.m. He then noticed damage to a steel almirah and realised that ₹1.07 crore in student fee collections had vanished. Police registered a case and formed teams to chase clues across several states. Officers visited Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka to trace the inter state burglary group.
Investigators identified the arrested men as Raj Manohar Pawar, a 22-year-old BBA student from Gujarat, and Rithik Mohite, a 24-year-old law student from Madhya Pradesh. A 16-year-old juvenile travelled with them. Police seized ₹16 lakh from Raj, ₹5.65 lakh and a phone from Rithik, and ₹15.4 lakh from the juvenile. All three confessed to their role in the crime during questioning.
Inter state burglary plot began in Gujarat
The team formed in Umargam village in Gujarat. The senior members, Dinesh Mohite and Arun Mohite, carried past property offence records in Gujarat and Maharashtra. They called their relatives for support and planned a strike on engineering colleges near Hyderabad. The group left Vapi in early October and reached Hyderabad on 9 October. They spent the day near Zoo Park, bought gloves and searched for targets through Google Maps.
The team first checked a college in Tattiannaram but avoided it due to nearby homes. They then moved to Brilliant Engineering College at Batasingaram. They hid in bushes until midnight. After the campus fell silent, they broke the grills and locks and removed the cash from an iron almirah. They later divided the haul near the same bushes and travelled in different vehicles to avoid notice.
Senior Rachakonda officers monitored the operation and commended the teams for the arrests.
