Hyderabad police training programme launched to upgrade skills across force

Hyderabad: Director General of Police B. Sivadhar Reddy launched a large-scale Hyderabad police training initiative titled “Oka Goppa Marpunaku Ide Sreekaram” at the TGICCC Auditorium in Banjara Hills on Tuesday. He inaugurated the event with Hyderabad Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar and released the training material prepared for the programme. Additionally, he said the initiative would play a crucial role in improving the skills of police personnel and strengthening public service delivery.

Sivadhar Reddy explained that the programme aims to enhance professional capacity across all wings of the force. He noted that 19,488 personnel under the Hyderabad Commissionerate will receive training in phases. Furthermore, he described the effort as the first citywide training exercise covering every staff member in the organisation.

Hyderabad police are being trained to follow a structured delivery model

A total of 178 officers will act as special trainers. The group consists of 74 ACPs, 98 Inspectors and Reserve Inspectors, and 6 Sub-Inspectors. After completing a Training of Trainers module, they began preparing to conduct sessions in their respective divisions. Consequently, officials said this model ensures uniform learning standards and steady improvement across the force.

During his address, the DGP stressed the need for continuous reskilling as policing methods evolve. He added that proper training sharpens an officer’s approach and encourages them to adopt better practices. Because public awareness has increased, he said, police behaviour must also improve to maintain trust. He also praised Commissioner Sajjanar for designing the initiative and leading its implementation.

Senior officials call for responsibility and improved conduct

Commissioner Sajjanar stated that training strengthens both organisations and the individuals who form them. He pointed out that the month-long planning process helped create focused training modules. As a result, the programme aims to develop every officer into a responsible and efficient professional. Moreover, he reminded personnel that their conduct and performance directly influence the public image of the police force.

Senior officers attending the event included Additional CP (Crime) M. Srinivas, Joint CP (Admin) Parimala Hana Nutan, Headquarters DCP Rakshita Krishnamurthy, SB DCP Apoorva Rao, DD DCP Shweta, South Zone DCP Sneha Mehra, East Zone DCP B. Balaswamy, and members of the training faculty.
