Hyderabad: UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar introduced a new Aadhaar app designed to simplify secure and paperless identity verification. He announced the app during a webinar on offline verification, which focused on strengthening user privacy and reducing dependence on physical Aadhaar copies. Moreover, the session highlighted how the technology could help curb misuse and prevent fraud.
The webinar explained that offline verification allowed users to share selective Aadhaar details instead of submitting complete identity documents. Officials said the method also offered a safeguard by confirming a user’s presence through face verification. Because these steps limited exposure of sensitive data, UIDAI noted that they aligned with ongoing efforts to enhance security.
New Aadhaar app focuses on security and family support
The new Aadhaar app introduced several features to support user convenience. It allowed individuals to manage Aadhaar information for up to five family members within a single interface. Additionally, it offered enhanced protection through one-click biometric locking, which helped prevent unauthorised access. Users could also update mobile numbers and addresses with greater ease.
Officials emphasised that the app encouraged people to adopt secure verification methods instead of depending on printed Aadhaar cards. They said the upgraded system enabled faster onboarding for services that required identity checks. Furthermore, UIDAI highlighted that the app aimed to expand the scope of privacy-first digital identity processes.
New Aadhaar app to expand digital identity services
The session drew strong public engagement, and participants raised queries on verification methods and security protocols. UIDAI stated that it planned to introduce more user-friendly features in the coming months. The authority added that the app would continue to evolve as digital identity needs expanded across sectors.
Officials said the improved verification tools would support government programmes, financial services and private-sector platforms that relied on quick and reliable identity confirmation. They stressed that the new approach sought to strengthen trust in Aadhaar-based systems while reducing the risks linked to document sharing.
