Hyderabad: Confusion spread among patients on Wednesday over the availability of Aarogyasri services in Telangana. Government and private hospitals issued contradictory statements on the matter.
The government said services continued as usual in most network hospitals. In contrast, private hospital representatives claimed their strike was still in force and all Aarogyasri-linked services had been stopped.
The government says 87% hospitals are functional, but private hospitals deny the claim
According to the health department, Aarogyasri services were available in 87 per cent of network hospitals across the state. Of 477 hospitals in the network, 62 joined the strike while 415 treated patients.
Aarogyasri CEO Uday Kumar said hospitals had performed an average of 844 surgeries daily during the past two weeks. He reported 799 surgeries on Wednesday and urged striking hospitals to resume services immediately.
Rejecting this version, Dr Rakesh, president of the Private Network Hospitals Association, insisted the strike was continuing. He said all private hospitals had suspended Aarogyasri, Employees Health Scheme (EHS), and Journalists Health Scheme (JHS) services.
Meanwhile, the health department announced that government hospitals arranged special facilities to avoid disruption in patient care.
