HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail marked the 71st birthday of former Telangana Chief Minister and BRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao by donating 10 water dispensers to various mosques on Monday. The initiative was taken in view of the upcoming holy month of Ramzan.
The celebrations began at Telangana Bhavan past midnight on Sunday, where Abdullah Sohail and BRS activists burst crackers. The following day, a cake-cutting ceremony was held at the party headquarters, attended by party leaders and supporters.
BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao distributed the water dispensers as a symbolic gesture of the party’s commitment to community welfare. Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah Sohail expressed his prayers for KCR’s long and healthy life while praising his leadership in advancing the welfare of religious minorities, particularly Muslims, in Telangana.
He emphasized that under KCR’s tenure, several welfare schemes were successfully implemented, ensuring the effective utilization of allocated funds. He highlighted the establishment of over 200 residential schools for minority students, which currently provide free quality education, accommodation, and meals to over 1.30 lakh students. These schools, he said, have played a crucial role in empowering underprivileged Muslim children with better educational opportunities.
Abdullah Sohail lauded KCR’s governance as a model of secularism, stating that Telangana remained free from communal conflicts under his leadership. He credited KCR with fostering harmony among diverse communities while implementing schemes that benefited minorities.
Among the significant initiatives he mentioned were the Shaadi Mubarak Scheme, which provided financial assistance to economically weaker Muslim families for their daughters’ weddings, and the Overseas Scholarship Scheme, which enabled minority students to pursue higher education abroad. Additionally, he noted the state’s financial aid program for Imams and Muezzins, ensuring the well-being of those serving in mosques.
He further emphasized that KCR’s leadership demonstrated how inclusive governance could lead to a just and equitable society. He urged BRS cadres to uphold KCR’s vision of secular development and continue working for the upliftment of minorities and marginalized communities.
