Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday arrested an Assistant Engineer (AE) working in the Education Welfare and Infrastructure Department for accepting a bribe of ₹8,000 in Hanamkonda.
The accused, identified as Ramesh, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from a contractor at his office. He had allegedly demanded ₹18,000 to clear bills related to a school building in Kodakandla. Officials said he had already collected ₹10,000 earlier.
Ramesh is currently posted at the District Education Officer (DEO) office in Jangaon. ACB teams have begun conducting searches at his workplace following the arrest.
Speaking to the media, ACB DSP Sambayya confirmed the arrest and stated that the operation was based on a prior tip-off. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
