Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Warangal unit, arrested a TGEWIDC site engineer on Monday for demanding and accepting a bribe related to a project under the PM SHRI Grant Scheme.
Samala Ramesh, employed on an outsourcing basis at the Telangana State Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGEWIDC), Jangaon Sub-Division, accepted ₹8,000 in cash at his office. ACB officials caught him red-handed during the trap.
According to the ACB, Ramesh demanded a total of ₹18,000 to process and forward the final bill for a Science Lab built at ZPHS, Kodakandla. He had earlier received ₹10,000 via a digital PhonePe transaction.
Officials recovered the remaining ₹8,000 during the operation. They stated that Ramesh misused his position for personal gain and violated his professional responsibilities.
The ACB arrested him immediately. They plan to produce him before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal. The investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not revealed the complainant’s identity for security reasons.
