HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials continued questioning Hari Ram Bhookya, the former chief engineer of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, for a second consecutive day on Saturday in connection with allegations of financial irregularities and abuse of power.
According to sources, the interrogation followed raids at 13 locations, including Hari Ram’s residence, which reportedly led to the discovery of key documents and evidence. Based on these findings, the investigation is now being expanded.
The ACB had already conducted a detailed inquiry the previous day, during which Hari Ram was questioned about discrepancies in project approvals and the alleged accumulation of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Authorities confirmed that the questioning process is being carried out within a legal and transparent framework. Hari Ram, who was serving as Managing Director of the Kaleshwaram Corporation and Chief Engineer of the Gajwel region, is believed to have played a pivotal role in securing approvals and loans for the multi-crore irrigation project.
His wife, B. Anita, currently holds the post of Deputy Chief Engineer in the Irrigation Department. The ACB has filed a case against Hari Ram under charges related to possession of disproportionate assets.
