Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) swooped down on multiple locations across Telangana on Wednesday, targeting Irrigation Department SE N. Sridhar in a major disproportionate assets case.
Acting on allegations that Sridhar had amassed wealth far beyond his known sources of income, ACB teams launched simultaneous raids at 12 different premises from early morning. The searches covered Sridhar’s residence in Hyderabad, as well as the homes of his relatives and associates in Karimnagar and Siddipet districts.
Sridhar, who previously supervised packages 6, 7 and 8 of the high-profile Kaleshwaram project, currently serves as SE at the Irrigation Department’s CAD Division-8, stationed at the SRSP camp office in Choppadandi. He also holds the position of president of the state’s Irrigation Engineers Association.
The ACB raids have gained significance against the backdrop of the ongoing commission inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project. With the investigation nearing its final stages, the ACB’s surprise action at the home of an engineer directly involved with the project has stirred considerable attention.
While full details of the raids are still unfolding, officials have reportedly filed a case and taken Sridhar into custody for questioning.
