HYDERABAD: In a surprise operation, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials raided the Wankidi check post in Asifabad district and apprehended two private individuals for illegally collecting money from drivers. The raid led to the seizure of ₹45,100.
The Wankidi inter-state check post falls under the jurisdiction of the Transport Department. However, the individuals involved were found to have no official connection with the department. They were caught red-handed extorting money from passing vehicles.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACB DSP Ramanamurthy from Karimnagar. At the time of the raid, the only official on duty at the check post was AMVI Madhavi.
The two individuals arrested were identified as Ailayya, also known as Ravi, and Vijay Kumar. They were stationed outside the check post, stopping vehicles and collecting cash. ACB officials arrested both at the scene and confiscated the illegally obtained amount.
