HYDERABAD: Congress MLC and TPCC General Secretary Addanki Dayakar has criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly misrepresenting the Supreme Court’s recent stay concerning the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) land dispute. In a video statement released on Twitter, Dayakar accused both parties of spreading false information to mislead the public.
Dayakar clarified that the Supreme Court’s stay pertains specifically to environmental concerns and does not challenge the state government’s ownership of the 400 acres in question. He expressed dismay over certain media outlets, referred to as ‘Pink Lotus Media,’ celebrating the court’s decision, suggesting that such reactions are based on misinterpretations of the ruling.
He further asserted that the BRS and BJP are attempting to tarnish the image of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy through deliberate misinformation. Dayakar emphasised that the current administration, like its predecessors—including former Chief Ministers YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Roshaiah, and Kiran Kumar Reddy—has acted within legal frameworks to protect state lands. He accused the BRS of previously attempting to transfer these lands to private entities, contrasting it with the Congress’s efforts to safeguard them.
Addressing the public, Dayakar urged citizens not to be swayed by the purported false narratives propagated by opposition parties and certain media segments. He warned that such misinformation campaigns are designed to undermine the government’s credibility and could backfire on those orchestrating them.
This development underscores the escalating political tensions surrounding the HCU land dispute and highlights the challenges in disseminating accurate information amidst competing party narratives.
