Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall across Telangana has triggered severe flooding in Adilabad, prompting a high-level emergency review by district in-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao.
As rain battered multiple areas from Friday, parts of the united Adilabad region became submerged. Overflowing streams and tanks have cut off access to several localities, trapping residents and disrupting transport.
On Saturday, Minister Jupally held a video conference with district officials to assess the situation. He directed immediate relocation of residents from flood-prone zones, particularly near the swelling Penganga river. “Ensure no one suffers due to inaction,” he told officials.
The minister instructed health and RWS departments to remain on alert and operate round the clock. He asked for a department-wise action plan to address ongoing damage and prevent further risks. Officials were told to monitor inflows and outflows at all reservoirs closely.
Jupally also called for a ground-level assessment of crop loss and ordered a full report. He asked engineers to patch breaches in canals and tanks without delay and begin urgent road repairs in affected areas.
