Hyderabad: Adilabad Police on Sunday seized 15 quintals of counterfeit detergent being moved for sale in Telangana and Maharashtra.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeevan Reddy said the main accused, Rupesh Agarwal of Adilabad, bought the fake detergent from Amaravati. He then tried to supply it to traders in Adilabad and nearby districts in Maharashtra.
Vehicle check leads to haul
Two Town Sub-Inspector Vishnu Prakash and his team stopped a Bolero during a vehicle check near the Tamsi bus stand in Adilabad town. They found 60 bags inside, each carrying one-kilogram packets of counterfeit detergent. The total weight came to nearly 15 quintals.
Police issue warning
The DSP warned that police will take strict action against anyone circulating counterfeit products. He urged the public to share information about such activities without delay.
Police registered a case against four accused — Shivaji, Rama Rao, Rupesh Agarwal, and Apsak Salat. They arrested three of them. The investigation into the racket continues. Two Town Inspector Nagaraju, SI Vishnu Prakash, and other personnel carried out the operation.
