HYDERABAD: A serious road accident occurred in Adilabad district on Thursday when a speeding lorry collided with an RTC bus carrying passengers near Kokas Munnur village in Ichoda mandal.
The bus was travelling towards Nirmal when the collision happened. As per preliminary reports, dozens of passengers sustained injuries, some of them grievously.
Ichoda police reached the scene promptly and, with the help of locals, shifted the injured to Adilabad RIMS hospital for emergency treatment. Officials confirmed that the lorry driver also suffered severe injuries in the crash.
The condition of several passengers is said to be critical, though exact numbers are yet to be confirmed.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident, which is suspected to involve speeding and possible negligence. Further details are awaited.
