Hyderabad: The final day of Ganesh Utsav saw grand Ganesh Visarjan celebrations on Saturday, with Mumbai and Hyderabad at the centre of the action.
In Mumbai, more than 1.80 lakh idols are set for immersion, including 6,500 pandal idols and over 1.75 lakh from homes. The idols will be taken to beaches, lakes and 205 artificial ponds. To keep order, 21,000 police were stationed across the city.
For the first time, Mumbai police used artificial intelligence for route and traffic management. A control room at Girgaon Chowpatty tracks vehicles with QR codes and stickers, helping manage crowds and diversions in real time.
Ganesh Visarjan in Hyderabad spans 40 hours with massive deployment
Officials also set up 245 control rooms, deployed 42 cranes, and arranged 50 German rafts for large idols. With 2,178 lifeguards and 56 motorboats, authorities aimed to avoid mishaps.
In Hyderabad, around two lakh idols are being immersed, with security from more than 50,000 police personnel. Commissioner C.V. Anand said the final immersion will last about 40 hours.
The celebrations mix devotion with discipline, where modern tech and massive manpower ensure smooth and safe Ganesh Visarjan.
