Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested the managing partner of Ambika Steel in connection with a major GST fraud case following a complaint from state GST officials.
Investigators found that the accused generated e-way bills without actual transportation of goods and issued fake invoices to unlawfully claim input tax credit, in violation of GST laws.
GST fraud case exposed through fake e-way bills and invoices
According to officials, a case was registered on July 30, 2025. Investigators found that the vehicle with registration number AP29TA7213, which had been seized by the authorities in June 2025 and was not in use, was wrongly used by several taxpayers to create fake invoices without moving any goods.
After the FIR was filed, the accused moved the High Court seeking to have the case quashed, but the court dismissed the petition. He was later caught by police while attempting to escape to Goa.
Police said more accused in the case remain absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them. The investigation is continuing.
