Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has cancelled his visit to Hyderabad, which was originally scheduled for Saturday during the Ganesh immersion.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand had earlier said that Shah would attend the rally at MJ Market. The police had increased security and finalised logistical arrangements. However, BJP sources later confirmed that the minister dropped the plan due to vice-presidential election work and meetings with MPs.
Amit Shah cancels Hyderabad visit amid immersion preparations
Although the visit is cancelled, the Ganesh immersion will go ahead as planned. The process will begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday and continue until 10 a.m. the next day. Major idols, including the Khairatabad Ganesh, will be immersed at Tank Bund, Saroornagar Lake, and several other GHMC lakes.
The main Balapur procession will pass through Charminar, Abids, Liberty, and Tank Bund before ending at Necklace Road. Other processions from Secunderabad, Tolichowki, Mehdipatnam, and Tappachabutra will head toward MJ Market and Tank Bund. Police will enforce traffic bans along all major routes.
Traffic curbs, diversions and parking for Ganesh immersion
Police have planned diversions for vehicles from areas such as Keshavgiri, Chandrayangutta, Moosarambagh, and Chanchalguda. They will also redirect traffic in Madina, Nayapul, Darulshifa, Putlibowli, Himayatnagar, YMCA, and Liberty.
Authorities will not allow any vehicles through Khairatabad, Abids, Ranigunj, Tank Bund, or Buddha Bhavan junctions. They have arranged parking zones at NTR Stadium, Kattamaisamma Temple, Public Gardens, BRK Bhavan, Adarshanagar, and Khairatabad MMTS station.
The city has banned heavy vehicles from 8 a.m. on September 6 to 11 p.m. on September 7. Post-immersion, trucks must use only the Outer Ring Road to exit.
RTC buses will stop at Mehdipatnam, Kukatpally, Secunderabad, Uppal, Dilsukhnagar, and Narayanaguda. Inter-state and district buses will be diverted via Chaderghat.
Police advised people going to Shamshabad Airport to use PVNR Expressway or ORR. Those heading to Secunderabad Railway Station should take the Begumpet–Paradise route. For help, citizens can call 040-27852482, 8712660600, or 9010203626.
