Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Telangana visit was confirmed for September 6, when he will attend the Ganesh procession in Hyderabad.

Shah was invited by the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti to take part in the event. He will address gatherings near Charminar and Mozamjahi Market during the main procession. Later, after the immersion, he will meet senior Telangana BJP leaders at ITC Kakatiya.
Security and traffic curbs in place
Hyderabad was already decked up for the Ganesh immersion. About 30 percent of idols had been immersed, while the rest were scheduled for Tuesday. The main procession from Balapur to Hussain Sagar was expected to draw large crowds. Police deployed heavy security and enforced traffic restrictions along the procession routes.

With Shah’s presence, authorities prepared for stricter measures. Police said precautionary steps were taken to prevent untoward incidents in the city.
