Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday trapped and arrested Gadiyaram Srinivasulu, Junior Assistant at PHC Angaraajpalli and in-charge of Kotapalli PHC in Mancherial district, while accepting a ₹6,000 bribe from a complainant.
According to ACB officials, Srinivasulu demanded the money to prepare two DA arrear bills and submit them to the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) at Kotapalli PHC. The complainant, unwilling to pay the illegal demand, approached the ACB and lodged a formal complaint.
Following verification of the allegations, ACB officials organised a trap. As soon as Srinivasulu accepted the ₹6,000 bribe amount from the complainant, the ACB team apprehended him. Officers recovered the tainted currency from his possession on the spot.
Officials said Srinivasulu had acted dishonestly and misused his official position for personal gain. They stressed that such corrupt practices directly undermine public trust in government health institutions.
The ACB transported the accused to Karimnagar, where he was presented before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases. Legal proceedings under the Prevention of Corruption Act have been initiated.
The agency has urged citizens to report any government official who demands illegal gratification. Complaints can be made directly at ACB offices or through their helpline numbers. The Bureau assured that complainants’ identities would be protected, and swift action would be taken in all verified cases.
This incident marks another in a series of successful traps conducted by ACB in Telangana in recent weeks, highlighting its ongoing campaign against corruption in public services.
