Hyderabad: Discontent has erupted within the Congress party over the selection of its candidate for the Jubilee Hills by-election, after former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav made sharp remarks expressing disappointment at being denied the ticket.
Yadav, speaking in an interview with a media channel on Friday, alleged that certain leaders deliberately prevented him from contesting. “I will soon reveal who stopped my ticket,” he said. He questioned the state Congress leadership, asking whether he was not eligible to contest the by-election. “The senior leaders have forgotten who stood by the party in difficult times,” he added, expressing displeasure over not being consulted in the candidate selection process.

Yadav also criticised the sudden emergence of the “local versus non-local” issue in the Jubilee Hills ticket decision. “When I contested from Kamareddy in the past, why was that issue not raised then?” he asked. He asserted that as a working president of the party, he had the right to contest from any constituency.
He declared that those who try to push him down will find him rising further. Yadav said he would announce his next course of action after meeting party workers. “I have been with Congress for 40 years. Many who feel hurt are coming to me,” he stated. He further questioned, “Should I not speak for my rights while I am still in the party?”
