Hyderabad: A ration card distribution event in Janakapur, Asifabad district, escalated into chaos on Thursday after a verbal altercation between local political leaders. The clash occurred during a public function where new ration cards were being issued at the Rythu Vedika centre.
Tension broke out when Asifabad MLA Kova Lakshmi, who was presiding as chief guest, was interrupted by Congress in-charge Shyam Naik. During her speech, Naik reportedly made derogatory remarks against BRS leader K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), sparking outrage.

In a heated reaction, Kova Lakshmi hurled a water bottle and other objects from the table at Naik. The incident shocked attendees and brought the program to a halt. According to local accounts, Naik’s comments disregarded KCR’s role in Kova Lakshmi’s political rise, which further provoked the MLA.
The MLA left the venue immediately after the confrontation. The distribution of ration cards was temporarily suspended following the disruption.
