Hyderabad: Congress MP Mallu Ravi has expressed alarm over what he called increasing threats to the Constitution, stating it is the country’s greatest concern today. He described Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai as a key guardian of constitutional integrity.
Addressing media, Ravi cautioned that certain elements are operating beyond constitutional limits, necessitating urgent protection of democratic frameworks. He referred to CJI Gavai’s repeated emphasis on the implementation of SC, ST, and BC reservations since assuming office.
He noted that the Chief Justice comes from a political family—his father R.S. Gavai served as a Lok Sabha MP from Maharashtra, was a member of the legislative council, and later served as governor of two states.
The MP also highlighted reforms by the Telangana government in education, noting ₹200 crore being spent per integrated residential school. He credited CM Revanth Reddy with initiating structural change and pointed to an across-the-board hike in mess charges for 7 lakh social welfare hostel students.
Ravi called the Constitution a shield for the people, declaring it one of the finest in the world.
