Hyderabad: Alleging widespread irregularities in the issuance of new auto permits, the Telangana Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for a one-day auto bandh across Hyderabad on August 14.
Speaking at a press meet in Hyderguda on Friday, JAC state convener Mohammad Amanullah Khan accused a nexus of dealers and auto financiers of selling new vehicles at inflated rates by exploiting the permit allotment process.
He criticised the state government for washing its hands off after granting permits and failing to address drivers’ broader concerns. He demanded that autos from other districts be barred from entering Hyderabad and called on the government to fulfil its election-time promise of ₹12,000 annual support to each auto driver.
Khan appealed to drivers to participate in large numbers and make the bandh a success. JAC state general secretary Mujahid Hashmi and leaders Saleem, Yahya, Mohammad Latif, Lakshmi Narasayya, and Razak were also present.
