Reports suggest officials collected huge sums, ignoring even Supreme Court orders. Payments were allegedly fixed per pole, transformer, and apartment floor. Builders were asked to pay lakhs for each connection.
Sources said line staff and senior engineers were all involved. GHMC town planning officials were also accused of ignoring unauthorised construction.
Vigilance teams confirmed the probe is ongoing. They said a similar inquiry may soon be launched inside GHMC.
