Hyderabad: The famed Balapur Ganesh festivities drew record crowds and donations this year, with devotees contributing more than ₹23 lakh in offerings during the 11-day celebrations.
The organisers had designed the Ganesh pandal in the model of Swarnagiri Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple, attracting lakhs of visitors eager to witness both the idol and the elaborate temple replica. In previous years, pandals were themed on iconic shrines such as Kailasagiri, Badrinath, Rameswaram, and the Ayodhya Ram temple.
Balapur Ganesh sees record hundi collections
Devotees donated ₹23,13,760 through the hundi, organisers said, marking one of the highest collections in recent years. Earlier, the Ganesh Utsav Samithi had already raised ₹35 lakh through the auction of the famed Balapur laddu, believed to bring prosperity to its holder.
The Balapur laddu has built a reputation far bigger than its size. In Hyderabad, it’s not just a sweet—it’s seen as a ticket to prosperity. Every year during Ganesh Chaturthi, people talk about it with the same mix of excitement and reverence, treating the massive offering as a symbol of wealth, luck, and success. It’s one of the highlights of the festival, and for many, the real spectacle to watch.
