Hyderabad: Former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Friday inaugurated the annual ‘Alai Balai’ Dasara get-together at Nampally Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad. The event drew political leaders, film personalities, and officials.
Telangana Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, actor Nagarjuna, comedian Brahmanandam, Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao, CPI leaders Narayana and Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, and Telangana Jana Samithi president Professor Kodandaram attended. Dattatreya welcomed guests with traditional shawls.
Alai Balai marks unity beyond politics
Organisers said several Union ministers, chief ministers of Telugu states, and more dignitaries are expected to attend the gathering. Dattatreya launched Alai Balai during the Telangana movement to foster unity among leaders across party lines.
The event continues each year to showcase Telangana’s culture, traditions, and food. It has evolved into a platform reflecting social harmony beyond political divisions.
