Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay accused the Congress-led Telangana government of cheating students by not clearing long-pending fee reimbursement dues.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said private college managements were furious after the government failed to release ₹600 crore by Dussehra, as promised. The colleges have now announced a statewide strike starting October 13.
Sanjay noted that institutions had hoped the ₹21,200 crore arrears would be cleared by Diwali. But doubts are rising over whether the government will fulfil that assurance.
He also alleged that both Congress and the earlier BRS government had created over ₹10,000 crore in unpaid dues. According to him, they turned the reimbursement scheme into a political gimmick.
He said students and colleges had faced repeated broken promises and delays. Sanjay assured that the Union government stands firmly with students and institutions demanding timely reimbursements.
When it comes to cheating students, Congress writes the textbook.
Private colleges are now forced into a fresh strike from October 13 because Congress once again betrayed them over fee reimbursement.
