Union Minister Bandi Sanjay slammed the Telangana government over the caste census and phone tapping case, while predicting BJP’s victory in the MLC elections.
KARIMNAGAR: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay has strongly criticized the Telangana government’s stance on the caste census and the phone tapping case.
Speaking to the media in Karimnagar on Tuesday, he expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure victory in all three seats in the upcoming Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections. He suggested that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s active campaigning in three districts signals the ruling party’s concern over the BJP’s increasing influence.
Bandi Sanjay alleged that the Telangana government was manipulating the caste census to reduce Backward Classes (BC) reservation from 42% to 32%. He questioned the decline in BC population figures in the latest survey compared to previous data and criticized the government’s decision to conduct a resurvey, calling it a diversionary tactic. While clarifying that the BJP does not oppose the caste census, he stated that the party objects to including Muslims in the BC category for reservations.
Sanjay also criticized the slow progress in the phone tapping case, alleging that the Congress government lacks the courage to act against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He claimed that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) funds were diverted to Congress leaders in Delhi, which he believes has led to the deliberate sidelining of the case.
BJP’s Election Prospects
Drawing a comparison to an India-Pakistan cricket match, Sanjay likened the February 27 MLC election polling to such a contest, urging those who support India’s victory to vote for the BJP. He asserted that the BJP is gaining momentum in Telangana, and its success in the MLC elections would mark a significant political shift in the state.
The remarks come at a crucial time as Telangana gears up for the elections, with political parties intensifying their campaigns.
