Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has demanded that the ongoing phone tapping case in Telangana be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Speaking to the media in Karimnagar, Bandi Sanjay questioned why notices had not been issued to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao despite claims by accused that phone tapping was done on orders from senior officials.
He alleged a tacit understanding between the Congress and BRS, asking why the government was shielding the former intelligence chief Prabhakar Rao.
Referring to the testimony of ex-DCP Radhakishan Rao, Sanjay said the officer had admitted tapping phones on directions from superiors. He claimed phone tapping operations were conducted from Hyderabad and Sircilla, KTR’s constituency.
He also questioned KTR’s recent US visit, suggesting it was timed to avoid fallout before Prabhakar Rao’s reported return to India.
Bandi Sanjay claimed he was the first to raise alarm over the phone tapping case, which surfaced after BRS lost the assembly polls.
He confirmed receiving a call from the SIT and said he would appear as a witness, becoming the second high-profile political figure to do so after TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud.
