Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has firmly rejected any possibility of negotiations with Maoists, declaring that dialogue with those who take up arms and kill innocent civilians is out of the question.
Speaking to the media after unveiling a statue of Hanuman in Kotthapalli, Karimnagar district, Sanjay asserted that engaging with armed extremists is not an option until they surrender their weapons. He criticised the Maoists for unleashing violence across party lines, including attacks that have claimed the lives of leaders from Congress, BJP, and the Telugu Desam Party through landmine explosions.
Sanjay reminded reporters that it was the Congress party that initially imposed a ban on Maoists, and yet, today, both Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) are attempting to outdo each other in advocating for talks with these very groups. He described this shift as political hypocrisy.
Highlighting the plight of tribal communities, Sanjay alleged that Maoist insurgents had branded hundreds of innocent Adivasis as informers and executed them, leaving countless families traumatised. He reiterated that the government would not consider any form of negotiation unless the Maoists first disarmed.
The minister also took aim at the Congress party over its approach to the caste-based census, calling it deeply unjust to backward communities. He contrasted it with the current central government’s methodology, which he described as a landmark step. According to Sanjay, there is a fundamental difference between Congress’s census initiatives and those led by the Modi administration.
He asserted that Congress and BRS are two sides of the same coin, both seeking to politicise the Maoist issue for electoral gain.
No question of holding talks with Maoists
They killed innocents, leaders and tribals. Congress banned them once, now competes with BRS to hold talks. pic.twitter.com/JfOfPbsYZp— Bandi Sanjay Kumar (@bandisanjay_bjp) May 4, 2025
