Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay reviews Samanvay platform and the Cyber Commando Program in a high-level meeting in New Delhi on Monday. The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs chaired the review, which focused on strengthening cybercrime investigation and inter-agency coordination.
The Samanvay platform, developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), helps State police agencies share information quickly. Its Pratibimb module provides police stations with suspect locations and details of banking and telecom resources used by cybercriminals. Another module enables direct police station-to-police station cooperation in interstate cybercrime cases. The system also allows district SPs to block SIM cards and devices used for criminal activity. Its banking feature speeds up access to CCTV footage and bank statements, while the Techno-Legal Support service offers investigative tools and expert guidance.
The Cyber Commando Program, launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, trains police officers to protect IT infrastructure, handle cyber incidents, and conduct advanced digital forensics. The first batch of 407 cyber commandos, trained at NFSU, IITs, IIITs, DIAT, and RRU, is already in service. A second, larger batch will begin training later this year. Work is underway on an operational manual and an online platform for ongoing tasking, feedback, and coordination.
Sanjay praised I4C’s work and said citizens must remain central to all efforts. He called for stronger public outreach under Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s leadership, with more preventive measures and awareness campaigns in local languages. He also urged closer engagement with grassroots officials.
