Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay on Sunday launched a scathing attack on former Intelligence Chief Prabhakar Rao, accusing him of orchestrating a massive phone-tapping operation that allegedly targeted political leaders, judges, and even private citizens.
Addressing reporters in Hyderabad, Bandi Sanjay lashed out at Rao, labelling him “a vile person” who, according to Sanjay, “deceived countless people” through his actions. He claimed that Rao’s recent surrender and appearance before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was nothing but a carefully planned move.
Sanjay alleged that Rao had maintained close ties with former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family, even undergoing a “counselling session” with them in the United States. “He harassed countless party workers, including me,” Sanjay fumed, demanding that the government release the statement Rao provided during the SIT inquiry.
According to Sanjay, Rao’s surveillance activities extended to leaders from the Congress, BJP, BRS, and even the judiciary. “He ruined lives and families, tapping private conversations, even between husband and wife,” Sanjay said, his anger palpable.
The Minister pressed the government to come clean about who authorised Rao’s phone-tapping operations and what they did with the intercepted audio recordings. “Who received these recordings? Who did they threaten or blackmail using this information?” he demanded.
Calling Rao “a scoundrel,” Sanjay insisted that the authorities take strict action. “People deserve to know the truth,” he said, adding that accountability is the only way to restore public trust.
